Fall Color

I have been working on some fall colorways
Hotspur
This is a new batch of an older colorway. I love the way is came out.

Phouch

From The Hitchhikers Guide line
St Crispin's Day
I really like it. I was playing with some of my favorite colors for lighting shows. I was thinking of Henry V. Rich red and oranges of dawn on the battlefield breaking through the foggy damp of night. The hero raises his sword and rouses his troops for battle. It is a very famous speech. I heard is again in an ad for a video game. Funny how the muse works.

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he today that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now abed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day. (IV, iii)

In other news the wonderful Ms. B is spinning the fiber I dyed for her. It looks so pretty.

Meet Arthur Dent

Here is the BMFA Rainforest Jasper sock. The color is beautiful. I hope Les likes them. I have finished the gusset.
sorry about the bad photo of the new yarn. I need to get a new battery for the good one(I think, it just would not turn on today)
This colorway is called Arthur Dent. You see where I'm going with this? I have "The Guide" in the pot now. Care to guess what I based the new line on?

Remember when I said I saved the best for last? I love this colorway. The picture is close. There isn't really any white in the skein. I took the pictures outside in the sun. I really want to keep this one! You know me I love the red.

I have been working on ideas for a line of repeatable colorways. When I have the $$ for more yarn and new dyes I am going get started. Spring and summer is a good time for dyeing.

The new line (I hope) will have semi solids as well as hand paints. I don't want to give to much away but I think one colorway will be Allosiman.

Color!

New yarn! I love new yarn. The one with the label is Fever. merino silk blend sock yarn. So pretty. I had one have of this silk blend. Its going to up in the shop.

The other is Merino sock yarn and I love it. The black with the grey and plum really pop on the merino. Both of these are layered dyes. More work but so worth it. More in the pot as I type!

A Little Twist

How do we like these beauties? I had some yarn that was brown and cream. I over dyed it. Pretty no? I love the raspberry/brown one. I am putting these up in the shop. each is 220 yards 100% wool. I think these would make great mittens or something. Yarny Goodness box has been shipped. I am not sure how long it will take for it to show up on the site but I will keep you posted.

Picture!

Well here is the one picture. I have to retake the others. I really like how this come out. The color is a little washed out here. Even in good light it is hard to get the color perfect. The blue is aqua. It reminds me of spring. This one will go to Yarny Goodness on Monday so look for them there.
New base yarns are on the way so I will have more for the shop. I only placed a small order. If this batch sells well I think I will order 20 lbs. I am so excited!
To help promote my indie artist brothers and sisters and pay the karma fairy a little I am going to feature different artist on the blog each week. I know many bloggers do this but I don't mind jumping on this bandwagon. I am not gonna commit to a day of the week. But I will try to keep up. I have my first ready to go I just need to take some pictures.
In Wii news: I have started playing the Wii sports. I am pretty good at bowling (I suck in real life) and not too bad at tennis. Golf and baseball I just plain suck at. Boxing I just don't get yet. Hubby did get me the World Series Of Poker game and I am pretty good at it. I have never liked video games before but this is kind of fun. I can now see how people have hurt them self. I think I have Wii elbow.

Feeling Fine

Today's roving came out perfect. Drying now. Dry Faster!

My slipper soles came out great too. I want to get the felted clogs pattern from fiber trends and try them out on some of those. I think A pair for my Dad...

The rest of this week I am going to work on making things from my store of craft supplies to put up in the shop. I want to raise some $$ for the trip to Colorado this summer. We will be spending a day at the wool festival. I am hoping to have some $$ to spend. I want to get a bunch of bag tags made to hand out to people I meet there. I want my shop to work out so I figure why not take advantage of the huge pile of knitters in one of my favorite places? Anybody else going?

My knitting goes on. I have knit the first dozen squares of a new blanket. These are just garter st so I can work on it whenever. My socks are also coming along.

There is now a heel and gusset. Yarn is Socks That Rock light in Lapis. I don't love it really. Maybe I would like the Medium better. It twists up a lot when knitting. They are pretty though. Jade scarf is as done as it will be for now. I am going to make a hat from the other skein and then add whats left to the scarf. It sure is pretty. Too bad I don't have anything to wear it with. The Wollmeise scarf is on hold for now. I just don't love the feel of the knitted fabric. maybe blocking will help...That's all for today. Watch the shop tomorrow for more roving.

Red Dawn

Here is the roving from yesterday. I really like it.

4 ounces of merino wool. I was a little afraid I had felted it but I let it dry overnight and fluffed it up. She is pretty. I love the pink with the rusty red. I think I will call it Red Dawn. (Wolverine!) Let me know what you think. I'm gonna try to do another tonight. This beauty is in the shop now.

Pretty!

Here is the last of this batch. Orange Crush, Hang Ten,Stars and Sweeney Todd. We have no light again today so the color is a little dull. I love Sweeney. I may have to keep that one. It rich red tones with deep brown. See Etsy mini in the side bar for the latest updates. Happy knitting!

More new yarn and stuff

Here we have Gypsy Rose Lee (top) I love this one pale rose to rich burgundy. I had a hard time giving this up.

Here is Blood Orange. Red and orange. So pretty.

I had a fun few days getting this all dyed up I hope you like it. I have 3 more coming. it is hard to get good pictures of the black. All the new yarns are going up in the shop this week. In most cases I have more than 1 of each.
Just to prove I am knitting:
Here is my newest wip. It is Argosy from Knitty winter 06. The yarn is the Wollmeise 6 ply I got from Kris for sp11.
I love the color. Red with a bit of rose and purple. It is a bit narrow but I think blocking will fix all. The pattern is pretty easy once you get started. I have tried 3 other patterns with this yarn so far but I think this one might stick.

3 down 2 to go

pounds of yarn that is. I am pretty happy with what I've pulled from the pot so far. The 2 ply merino is so soft and takes dye like a dream. I have some reskeining to do then I will take the photos. There is also Kona Superwash sport. I love this yarn. Soft and smoshy.

In knitting news the blanket is growing slowly now. I'm on my last 200 yards of yarn then the border. I wonder how big it will be?

More soon...
