New fiber!

Here are the new fibers. Henry V and Hotspur. I hope someone buys these I would love to see them spun up. I have sold my wheel as I was not really using it and I needed the cash more than another hobby. But after seeing my fiber spun up by Ms. B I really want to see how these new ones spin up. I tried to get a really deep color. Remember If you buy 2 US shipping is free. And I will ship internationally if you like just convo me!

This and that

Not sure what to call this one. Pretty though. Needs a name.

In shop news I have the last of the roving's dyed and ready to list. I just need some pictures first. This will be the last of the roving for a while. If it sells I will restock it. I have been slowly listing the new colors. Keep checking back to see new things.

In knitting news I am plugging away on Moms Christmas gift as well as GAL gift and a pair of socks for my Dad. I was going to knit him a vest but he seemed to like the socks I knit Hubby so socks it is. Dad's are not as loud as Hubby's are. I have only just started the pattern part so there is not much to show. I won't be showing you Mom or GAL's cuz they read this and then it just would not be any fun.

In Family news the MK's are getting on each others nerves. We keep calling MG's friends from school and leaving messages but never get a call back. I feel bad for her. We have been going to the park and doing things around the house to keep busy. Money is tight so there have not been tons of movies and eating out this summer.

I know I have not been writing much lately. I have been so stressed out about money that I have not felt like writing. I have been looking for a part time job and trying to push sales in the shop. I was able to transfer some money from the shop to the household account this month so that made me feel a little better about it. Its funny how sales and comments perk me up. Makes me feel like I am doing something right after all. Ok enough of that "oh poor me" stuff. I have to make lunch for the Monsters. Back soon.

Fall Color

I have been working on some fall colorways
Hotspur
This is a new batch of an older colorway. I love the way is came out.

Phouch

From The Hitchhikers Guide line
St Crispin's Day
I really like it. I was playing with some of my favorite colors for lighting shows. I was thinking of Henry V. Rich red and oranges of dawn on the battlefield breaking through the foggy damp of night. The hero raises his sword and rouses his troops for battle. It is a very famous speech. I heard is again in an ad for a video game. Funny how the muse works.

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he today that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now abed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day. (IV, iii)

In other news the wonderful Ms. B is spinning the fiber I dyed for her. It looks so pretty.

new colorways!

Did she crawl under a rock?

I crawled out from under the pile of yarn Thursday to pick the kids up from Papaw. They had a great time. Papaw said they were pretty good the whole time. MG even ate the fish they caught. We spent most of yesterday just hanging out together. It was nice to have a few days peace but it is good to have them home again.

I got a new camera battery last night so I will have pictures soon of all the new yarns and finished socks! I also started new socks out of one of the new colors.

back soon with pictures.
ps Sarah I sent you an e-mail about test knitting. did you get it? you can e-mail me sandyknits ATgmailDOTcom

quick update

So I went to Miss V's both Monday and Tuesday and we did not dye a single skein. Miss V got her soap stuff and we made soap instead. Well she made soap and answered all my questions. Miss V gets all mad scientist. Very fun to watch. It was pretty cool to see it come together.

I did get some dyeing done yesterday pictures soon.

The kids are having a great time with Papaw and Grandma S. They love the lake and the boat rides. P &GS seem to be having a good time too. The dogs are a little upset that we took the little people away. Winston misses his sleeping buddy. I pick the kids up tommrow.

More goodies!

There is some new stuff in the shop. Including another roving. I have 2 more to dye next week.
I hope to get a lot done next week as the MKs will be with Papaw and Grandma S for 4 days. I am going out to help Miss V dye the next Loopy Ewe order on Monday. That should be fun. She is a blast. Tuesday I will be dyeing here all day. I have some silk fabric I want to play with too. Gotta run kids to play with...

Knitting

I have in fact done some:
Here we have the neck warmer I knit for my God Daughter. Yarn is BMFA Socks That Rock lightweight in the Hard Rock colorway. It flares at the bottom so as to fit under her ski jacket. Keep the draft out without adding any bulk. I wrote up the pattern for this. I just have to type it up and have it tested. I love how the pattern is always changing. Anyone want to test knit this for me? I will send you the pattern and a skein of BunkyBoBo's to knit it with. Leave a comment with your e-mail.
Below are my boot socks. I finished the one you see here and have just started the 2nd. Yarn is Cherry Tree Hill supersock thin. Cosmic Night colorway (I think) I have had this yarn wound forever. I really like the colors, it is darker than it appears. This is also a pattern I just made up. Nothing fancy. I wanted a tight fitting leg but a flat foot to wear with my boots. I find a bumpy foot bugs me with all of my boots. I am not a girlie girl but I do love me the boots. I wear them almost year round. Short ones, tall ones, high heels, and low. Short red leather with spike heels and pointy toes... you get the idea. So I call these Short Boot Socks. I am knitting these on a 2.25mm. Tight for me. I am hoping they will wear well.

I have posted some more yarns and roving in the shop. With more coming later today. Remember free shipping on 2 or more skeins in July!

Happy 4th of July!

It is the 4th of july and big dog Winston is a pussy! he has been hiding in the house and will not go out because he is afraid of fireworks. Even when they are no fireworks going off he cowers in the corner. Poor guy. Puppy Toph couldn't care less. She is feisty and fearless. She just barks right back at them. This would not be a problem if the people in the neighborhood did not set off fireworks at 3 in the morning!

In shop news. I have the first of the spinning fiber ready for the shop.(I hope it s dry this morning!) Ms. B will be glad to know that it is the colorway Strider. Pictures later today. Also the last of the Guide colorways. I will be starting on the fall/winter colorways soon. I really enjoyed working with a theme so I am thinking about one for the f/w line. I have too many ideas to count right now. I need to do some research.

In knitting. I finished the Estes scarf. The lace shawl still needs to be ripped back. I am not too sure about that one. I may just restart it. I am working on some socks too. Not sure what I'll do next. Maybe Dads Vest. or maybe a fair isle hat. or maybe some mittens.

Hope you all enjoy the long holiday weekend!

Weekend Update

We had a great weekend with my folks. MB was a bit of a monster but hes 4 what ya gonna do?

It was nice to see them. The kids love them. They really like it when Grandpa rough houses with them. Poor Dad. I hope he is not too sore

We went to the zoo Sunday and met this cheeky monkey. She didn't get anything from us. She was looking at a little kid eating Fruit Loops. All of the monkeys were out playing. It was really fun to watch them. There were tons of people there. It was the first nice Sunday of the summer. I did notice a lot of tree damage from last weeks storm.
After I take the kids to the park today I am going to post 4 new colorways, and work on dyeing the fiber I got last week. I also have a pattern to write up. I want to have it test knit before sharing it.
