Good News Everyone!

So last night I got a very nice e-mail from Pam of Yarny Goodness. I have read her blog for a while now and knew she was opening an online shop to feature Indie artisans. She has beautiful yarns on the site and a good amount of traffic. Pams goal is to promote indies where ever she can and give them a place to sell their wears.
Well Pam asked me if I would consider putting my yarns in her shop! Heck Yeah!!! I am pretty excited. I will be sending her yarn, roving's and bag tags the first part of next week. When they go up I will let you all know. I am sending what I have on hand for now. I am going to order more blanks and dye up some colorways just for YG.

If you have some time check out all the yarns she has in the shop now. Great stuff!

Boy it is hard to type when you are jumping up and down.

Feeling Fine

Today's roving came out perfect. Drying now. Dry Faster!

My slipper soles came out great too. I want to get the felted clogs pattern from fiber trends and try them out on some of those. I think A pair for my Dad...

The rest of this week I am going to work on making things from my store of craft supplies to put up in the shop. I want to raise some $$ for the trip to Colorado this summer. We will be spending a day at the wool festival. I am hoping to have some $$ to spend. I want to get a bunch of bag tags made to hand out to people I meet there. I want my shop to work out so I figure why not take advantage of the huge pile of knitters in one of my favorite places? Anybody else going?

My knitting goes on. I have knit the first dozen squares of a new blanket. These are just garter st so I can work on it whenever. My socks are also coming along.

There is now a heel and gusset. Yarn is Socks That Rock light in Lapis. I don't love it really. Maybe I would like the Medium better. It twists up a lot when knitting. They are pretty though. Jade scarf is as done as it will be for now. I am going to make a hat from the other skein and then add whats left to the scarf. It sure is pretty. Too bad I don't have anything to wear it with. The Wollmeise scarf is on hold for now. I just don't love the feel of the knitted fabric. maybe blocking will help...That's all for today. Watch the shop tomorrow for more roving.

Blog tag

So I was tagged! I am to list 10 weird things about myself and then tag 5 others. Thanks Neeley!

so here goes.

1 I don't like seafood. Nothing from the sea.

2 I never wear make up.

3 I once had dinner with Ken Kesey

4 I have run the bases at Wrigley Field in heels

5 I go a little nuts if I forget my watch.

6 I have never watched Law & Order

7 In college I worked a MC Hammer concert. (scary)

8 I did a lighting design For The Rocky Horror Show while I was 8 mo pregnant with my son. It was the biggest show I had ever done and I had to call in another designer because I couldn't remember how to work the board.

9 I use Gaffers tape to fix everything.

10 I once had to mix up stage blood in 55 gallon drums for a show. We used 2 per show, plus blood packs. Did you know that cheep(the dry kind) condoms make the best blood packs? I know about 10 ways to make stage blood.

Cool eh?

So I will tag:
Elyse
Deawn
Laurie
I know thats only 3 oh well.

Red Dawn

Here is the roving from yesterday. I really like it.

4 ounces of merino wool. I was a little afraid I had felted it but I let it dry overnight and fluffed it up. She is pretty. I love the pink with the rusty red. I think I will call it Red Dawn. (Wolverine!) Let me know what you think. I'm gonna try to do another tonight. This beauty is in the shop now.

Babble

I just dyed up my first batch of roving. It came out really nice. It should be up in the shop tomorrow.

As for knitting: I am still working on all my projects. The DIC scarf is close to done ( 6 repeats to go). I love it! I am writing the pattern today. Other than that I got nothing. Well not nothing... I did get a fabric covered binder done today. I will take pictures to show you tomorrow. My Mom used to make these and they were always a hit. I am going to do one more full size one and then a little one for the shop. I think they will make great scrapbooks for someone...and...
I made slipper soles! I have a bag of old leather pieces left over from a show that is perfect for these. I am going to try out a pair on some socks and maybe put some of these in the shop too.

The MK's are very excited about their trip to Texas in April. MG keeps telling me about Mawmas pool and how she can swim when ever she wants. I am glad they are so excited. Maybe this means they have forgotten the ugly scene from last summer. MIL does not seem upset that I am not coming too. She told me not to pack anything for the kids. "I'll pick up what ever I need." I'll let Hubby pack. I am not sure he has thought about that drive with just the kids... Should be interesting.

Jade

Here is the Dream in Color scarf. I wanted a simple pattern to let the color show.In the end I just made it up as I went along. It is just beautiful. It knits up quick too. I will write up the pattern when I finish it.

If Hillary loses

I think it will be Bills fault. Don't get me wrong I like Bill and voted for him twice... I just think he could not remember to think about the fact that she is held accountable for his words in a way that no body else has to put up with. They tried to hang Obama with his wife's words and it did not stick. But Hillary has to carry every word Bill says on her back. Its a shame really, part of me would really like to hear Madame President... and I think she would make a good one.

Before you go hating me I am not anti-Obama. I think he is a great guy. I just worry that he is a rookie. And things won't change because he says they will. I wish they would but I just don't see it happening. If he wins I will vote for him and encourage others to do so...

But man I would have like to punch my ballot for all the women who came before, and for my own little girl...

End of primary election commentary

Just keep casting on...

I have knitting add these days. I want to knit everything. I cast on a new pair of socks yesterday while MB and I watched Diego. Just my basic sock. These will go into the gift pile for next Christmas.

This morning I looked through my knitting books and picked out a stitch pattern for a scarf. I am using the Dream in Color Classy. It will be soft and snuggly I think.

I knit 2 repeats on the Agrosy scarf.

I have one mitt done that needs a mate

half a stuffed monster

and squares for 2 different blankets

and the first 3 sections of a baby blanket.

I need to finish something...

and the winner is...

I had 2 comments for my little contest. So because there were only 2 you both get yarn. Yeah! So Elyse ( I can bring yours to knit night) and Ikkinlala will each get a skein of Bunkybobos Hand Dye. Please send me your address so I can send it off. (sjgh420ATyahooDOTcom). MG's amended total is $150.00! she is so excited.

Update

I got the sock pal socks done! No pictures as that would ruin the surprise.

So now I am trying to decide what socks to knit next. This is always my problem... I just can't decide on a pattern because there are so many great ones out there now. Too many choices !

I think it will either be Monkey or maybe RPM. I am sure to be the last knitter in blogland to knit Monkey...

Then there is the question of what to knit with the 2 Skeins of Dream in Color Classy that Hubby got me for V-day. Isn't it pretty? The colorway is Good Luck Jade. It is much better than the photo. I have 500 yards so maybe a hat/scarf/mitts combo... I am temped to order enough of this for a sweater as The Loopy Ewe is having a sale on Classy to go along with a sweater KAL they are doing. It is tempting but... Maybe after the taxes come in.
I guess I'd better get those taxes done!
Oh and in case you are wondering MG raised $100.00 for the AHA! I will find out later today if she is the top $ raiser in her class. She is very excited. She will be writing her Thank You notes this weekend.
I will post the winners of my little contest tommrow.
Oh and blogger still won't spell check.

Kids are soft these days

They called off school for today because it is going to be really cold here. The kids just had monday and tuesday off. If theres 3 feet of snow I can see why they would call off school. But come on. Yeah its cold, so keep the kids inside. I don't remember school being closed for even 1 snow day when I was growing up, Now they call of school if the weather man thinks it might snow. Oh well at least I don't have to take MG to school this morning.

Dear Toph

It is your cuteness that keeps me from taking your head off you know.
Don't get me wrong... I like you and you are very cute, but you do know I can fit your head in my mouth...just saying...
Note from human. No doge were harmed here today. They play like this alot now and are rather cute about it. Toph will stick her whole nose in his mouth and then roll over.
btw she has gained 6 lbs and the vet says she looks great. And bless the vet tech for doing the shot and taking of temp out of sight of the MKs. They have the best folks working there. The vet did say we should not board Toph untill she is a year old so she will have to go along on the family travles this year. We will have to see what we can work out. Vet says boarding them together is not really a good idea because of the other dogs and such.

I love me the Indy!

Have you seen the trailer for the new Indiana Jones Movie? Go now!. I was just giddy when the music started. Harrison Ford may be older (and so is Indy) but he looks great! I han not loved his recent movies but this is Indy!
The trailer offers a few plot clues, and Cate Blanchette looks great.
Is it May yet?

Poor Hubby

Hubby did not get home from work untill 9:00 pm last night. He was stuck on a job 55 miles out in the boonies of western Iowa. There was no cell service so he couldn't call. He had told me he thought he would be home around 5:00. I was worried sick. I would not have been as worried if the company had delivered his new truck. His present truck has 200,000+ miles on it. So I spent 3 hours worried he was stuck on the side of the road with no cell service. They told him he would have the new by the end of the month.

I finally started the Wine bag I promised Mom for her company fundraiser. It is going to be felted. I am using my own hand dye for this one.

Oh boy

Hubby got MG a DVD of High School Musical. in the middle of the movie there is a big production number in the cafeteria. MG tells me "High School is really totaly like that!"
"yes honey" I say..."all singing, all dancing, all the time!" Fun!
I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of HSM in this house.
"Mom! Mom! Troy is so hot!" Boy am I in trouble...

Done!

Pi blanket is done. Here it is unblocked. This came out so well. If I make another I would add about 15 more rows before the border. As it is the blanket is about 4' across. The knitted on garter st border took forever but is so worth it. This is a great stash busting project. I would guess I used around 1000-1500 yards of yarn for the whole thing. MG has been after me for weeks to finish this. She better like it.

More contest details

So when I put up the post about MG's AHA thing I had no idea you had to give at least $25.00 to use the website. I had in mind like $5.00 donation... So if you would like to give that is great and MG thanks you. I still want to give away some yarn so... Leave a comment on this post or the last post. Comments must be left by 8:00am cst next friday 02/22/08. I will draw a winner from the hat and send them some yarn! Ya'll love yarn right? So leave me a comment and see if you win!

Jump Around and a contest

MG is going to participate in Jump Rope For Heart at school. This is an event to raise money for AHA. All the money she raises goes to the American Heart Association. The program is designed to get kids moving, and give them a goal to work to. MG is excited. She did well last year and had a great time.
If you would like to sponser her just follow the link. If she raises $50.00 she gets a tee shirt. If she raises $150.00 she is in the running for a family trip to Disney World.

I will keep you posted as to how she does. Last year she made $30.00 so we are hoping for better this year, So if you donate, come back here and leave me a comment. Next friday (02-22-08) I will put the comments in a hat and let MG pick one. The lucky winner will get a skein of BunkyBoBos hand dyed and a nice note of thanks from MG. She has to turn her list in on thursday 02/21/08 so all donations and comments must be left by the end of the 20th.

So to recap: Give a little coin to a good cause and get a chance for some free yarn! You will not only help a good cause, your donation will make my little girl feel like she did something speical.
Thanks

ETA I did not know you had to do at least $25.00 on the web site. I will still have the contest so anyone who comments will be in the drawing. Thanks

Pretty!

Here is the last of this batch. Orange Crush, Hang Ten,Stars and Sweeney Todd. We have no light again today so the color is a little dull. I love Sweeney. I may have to keep that one. It rich red tones with deep brown. See Etsy mini in the side bar for the latest updates. Happy knitting!

Odds & Ends

Well Obama won Nebraska. Not really surprised as he was here in town 2 days before. This has been a really intresting election. I personally can not wait for GWB to be gone. He has messed things up so bad I can't see how the Dems could lose in November.

Had a nice morning out with MG yesterday. My LYS had moved to a new location and we went to check it out. Joe, who runs the place was just beaming as he showed MG and I around. MG was bored to death after 10 minutes of yarn talk. She wanted to look at the art gallery (part of same business) So I got out without buying anything. I will go back when they get some more Malabrigo. The new shop is so much bigger than the old one. Yeah! and places to knit with good light. Very nice.

I took yesterday "off" and should get the last of the new yarns skeined and pictures taken today.Stay tuned for Orange Crush, Hang Ten, and Sweeney Todd...

In knitting news: If all goes well I will work the border of the Pi blanket tonight after the MK's go to bed. Then the thing will be done. It is quite cozy to knit now as it coveres my lap. I am not sure when I learned to knit without looking but the miles of knit sts in this blanket might have done it.
Last night Hubby and I watched Air Guitar Nation. If you have not seen it (we saw it on VH1) do. I bet the whole Air Guitar thing has really taken off. Grown Men going half way around the world to see who is the best Air Guitar Player. I won't say who wins but C-Diddy and Boirn Toroque are the USA entries and they are a hoot. Boirn makes a point of telling his fellows not all Americans like where their country is going. Very telling bit right at the end. I would add that an adult drinkie( or 3) will help this film along. However if you enjoy grown men acting silly (and who doesn't?) check it out.

More new yarn and stuff

Here we have Gypsy Rose Lee (top) I love this one pale rose to rich burgundy. I had a hard time giving this up.

Here is Blood Orange. Red and orange. So pretty.

I had a fun few days getting this all dyed up I hope you like it. I have 3 more coming. it is hard to get good pictures of the black. All the new yarns are going up in the shop this week. In most cases I have more than 1 of each.
Just to prove I am knitting:
Here is my newest wip. It is Argosy from Knitty winter 06. The yarn is the Wollmeise 6 ply I got from Kris for sp11.
I love the color. Red with a bit of rose and purple. It is a bit narrow but I think blocking will fix all. The pattern is pretty easy once you get started. I have tried 3 other patterns with this yarn so far but I think this one might stick.

New Yarn! Yummy!

Here are the first 4 yarns for the shop. I have 4 more drying. Look for updates today!

3 down 2 to go

pounds of yarn that is. I am pretty happy with what I've pulled from the pot so far. The 2 ply merino is so soft and takes dye like a dream. I have some reskeining to do then I will take the photos. There is also Kona Superwash sport. I love this yarn. Soft and smoshy.

In knitting news the blanket is growing slowly now. I'm on my last 200 yards of yarn then the border. I wonder how big it will be?

More soon...

Warm head for me.

Here is my new winter hat. And not a moment too soon. It is cold and snowing this morning.

I used Knit Picks Merino Style for the hat and KP shine sport for the liner. You see it here pre blocking. I like it, it is really warn. If I had it to do over (and I do) I would add 1/2 a repeat of the colorwork. It just hits the top of my ears. I am not really crazy about the yarn. It is soft and nice to knit with but seem to be pilling a bit already. I will have to see how it wears.

The pattern I just sort of made up as I went along. If anyone wants to know I will do up a pattern.

It is cold and icky this morning. For some reason people can not remember how to drive in this weather. This makes me crazy. We had snow and ice less than 2 weeks ago people! remember? They are not all that fast with the snow removal around so we have to be careful.

nap time

Does it get any sweeter than this? MB has not been into nap lately but I caught this today. Pic of MG is from yesterday.

Mail Call

I got 5 lbs of yarn the the mail today. I already have 1/2lbs of 2 ply merino in the dye pot. The 2 ply is nice. It will make great lace projects and sock. It is a little thin (like Schafer Anne) but soft. I also got some superwash I'm gonna get started on later today. I should be able to get most of it dyed up this week. Look for shop updates next week.

I finished my new hat. Just gotta weave in the ends and block. Pictures tommrow if blogger will let me upload. this is the 3rd day in a row I have not been able to load pictures or spell check WTF? everything else works.

Party!

We had a party last night for the cast and crew of Hubbys show. We had a great time. The MK's were up untill 2am when the last of the guest went home. I thought they would sleep in. Yeah right. they were up at 7:45! I could hardly move. Oh well up now. We have a huge pile of leftovers. The food was a big hit. Hubby and I made everything from scratch. We had a great day with the kiddos getting the house ready and cooking. A great Saturday.

Toph is now running circles around Winston. every 3rd circle Winston knocks her down and sniffs her. it is very cute. I have new pictures but Blogger hates me today. won't take pics or spellcheck. I hate that!

You mean she is staying?

Hi Winston here. Did you meet my new friend? She wears me out, but I love her
