Turtleneck Warmer

Here it is. What do you think? I hate the color on me so this one will be gifted this year but I love the fit and everything else about this project. MG took the picture for me. Not bad eh?

This pattern is my own. I will write it up today and get someone to look it over for me before posting it. Pattern will call for about 350 yards of worsted weight. ( I used Artyarns Supermerino). This yarn seems to stretch quite a bit with blocking but is soft and warm.

2 new patterns in 10 days time. Go Me!

Socks for Dad

Here are Dads socks. This colorway is so hard to get a good photo of. The yarn is BMFA Socks That Rock. The colorway is Rauen form the Raven line. I have found that my STR socks grow a little with washing. These fit Hubby fine so fitting Dad should be no problem. You know the theroy that us girls Marry a guy much like our father? Well I did. Hubby and Dad have the same shoe/sock size.
I have started a new pair of socks already. The Lighthouse Gansey socks for Knitty. It is a fun pattern but slow going for me. I have to keep looking at the chart. So far so good. The pattern is well written and easy to follow. More on those when there is something to show.
My other projects are all moving forward. The new neck warmer should be done this week and then back to the muff. I resolved the gauge issue. I am pleased.

More Gifts

Here we have the Feather and Fan Scarf I have been knitting all summer. It blocked out nicely. The yarn is Rio De La Plata. Its a sock weight yarn knit on size 5 needles. Easy mindless. This one will find a new home at Christmas.
I have started a muff for a December bride. I am using the yarn from the red sweater. It is the perfect color for this and I should still have enough for the sweater. I could not find a pattern I liked so I am making it up as I go along. So far so good.

Malabrigo Poncho

Here is the poncho. Yarn is Malabrigo worsted in the Stone Chat colorway. I used about 2.5 skeins of yarn. I really like it. I never really even considered ponchos before MG asked for one. I really like it. I think I will use it a lot this fall. MG tried to clam it but as the yarn was a gift to me from GAL its mine. The color is close here.

Now I need to decide what to knit next. Or maybe finish one of the other projects I have going.

Remember to check out the shop (link in sidebar) everything must go.

A Very Monster Girl Poncho

Don't you love this on her? MG doesn't like sweaters much. This poncho seem like the perfect fit. The pattern is by The Yarn Harlot and can be found on her blog under A Very Harlot Poncho. I got the yarn in swap and I really like it. it is ArtYarns Ultra Merino I don't remember the colorway number. Soft pinks and greens it suits MG well I think. She told me 'No fringe Mom" so no fringe it is. I was worried about curling but blocking seems to have taken care of that. The yarn is very soft and nice to work with. I like the pattern too. I may have to knit myself one of these for the winter.

FO knee socks

The knee socks are done! In retrospect I would have added another 15 rounds of ribbing to the top. Other than that I love them. If it is not to hot I will wear them to EPWM. The color is really wonderful. The colorway is Brombeere. (Wollmeise 100% superwash merino) This yarn comes with a put up of 575 yards. I have a little bit left over. Do you like my pj's? they say Bite it Sideways. I love Happy Bunny.

After finishing the socks I cast on this shawl. I must be nuts. It is knit top down starting with 5 sts. The whole top part is stockinette so I have a while before I get to the charts. I have never knit from lace charts before. This should be fun. Right?

Toph the Destroyer

Toph loves to chew. This was the chair I sat in on our deck to watch the kids play in the park. Toph the Destroyer got to it and here it is now. The one arm is gone and there is no seat left. She did this Thursday evening while I was out. Hubby and the kids were watching a movie downstairs and did not even notice. Hubbys chair looks much the same. Toph killed that one and dragged it out to the yard for more chewing. Oh well better a pair of $7.99 lawn chairs than my couch.

Here is the little shawl I knit up for MIL. The yarn is an angora blend and super soft. The pattern is very simple. You see it here unblocked. I need to clear the guest bed for blocking. I started a wedding gift for Hubby's step sister. The wedding is in 2 weeks I hope I can finish it.

Well that is all for now. Everyone is home today. We may go see a movie if the sun doesn't come out.

Socks Done

See I still knit!

Yarn: Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock (med weight)

colorway: Rainforest Jasper

I really like the colorway here. It is a nice break from all the red socks I have been working on.

I finished something

Here is the Fire Cowl. I like it. Toasty and warm.
I liked it so much I started another one for Mom. Not gonna show you. Sorry Mom...
The yarn here is Jitterbug, colorway Fire. The yardage is a little short for socks I thought but this worked out great. I love the Eye of the Partridge. It breaks up the color of the yarn just a bit. The color here is not the best. We have had no sun for 3 days now.
MK's and Hubby are on the road and due home late tonight. I got all the beds cleaned and remade and now it is on to the bathroom.

Jade

Here is the Dream In Color Good Luck Jade hat and scarf all done. The color is stunning. It looks just like a piece of stone. This little set is going in the gift pile for next Christmas. Pretty no? I would buy this yarn again and again. I just love it.

Done!

Pi blanket is done. Here it is unblocked. This came out so well. If I make another I would add about 15 more rows before the border. As it is the blanket is about 4' across. The knitted on garter st border took forever but is so worth it. This is a great stash busting project. I would guess I used around 1000-1500 yards of yarn for the whole thing. MG has been after me for weeks to finish this. She better like it.

Warm head for me.

Here is my new winter hat. And not a moment too soon. It is cold and snowing this morning.

I used Knit Picks Merino Style for the hat and KP shine sport for the liner. You see it here pre blocking. I like it, it is really warn. If I had it to do over (and I do) I would add 1/2 a repeat of the colorwork. It just hits the top of my ears. I am not really crazy about the yarn. It is soft and nice to knit with but seem to be pilling a bit already. I will have to see how it wears.

The pattern I just sort of made up as I went along. If anyone wants to know I will do up a pattern.

It is cold and icky this morning. For some reason people can not remember how to drive in this weather. This makes me crazy. We had snow and ice less than 2 weeks ago people! remember? They are not all that fast with the snow removal around so we have to be careful.

Look Knitting!

The little round thing is another Pi blanket. Mom is going to knit this one I just started it for her. That is BunkyBoBos hand dyed superwash merino. The hat is perfection. Fits great and the color is wonderful. I overdyed a ball of tan yarn to get this deep rust color. One of the kids has swiped it already
In other news I ordered more yarn to dye today. I should have it by Monday. I can't wait. Look for updates late next week.

Velvet Grapes

So I got 2 hanks of Malabrigo yarn at me LYS year end sale. I knit a little beanie for MB which he loves and then started a scarf. He declared it "soft" and "Mine". So I finished up the first skein and gave it to him. He loves it. Soft and warm. The 2nd skein of this beautiful yarn is getting knitting into a Tam. I love this yarn! the color is amazing and it is so soft! I dream of knitting a Malabrigo sweater!

The color btw is Velvet Grapes.

Socks are flying along and non knit projects are ready for photo shoot. Should be a busy day, even if it is flippin cold here.

One for the House Elves

How's this for a quick project? I cast on last night after the MK's went to bed and by the time I went to bed I had this little hat. The pattern is the Tea Cozy Hat from Charmed Knits. It fits MB but he just got a new hat. I am sure there will be a baby sometime for this little hat. I used up some odd ball leftovers Knit Picks Wool of the Andes. I wanted some mindless knitting and this fit the bill. Just garter st with a little bit of clever seaming at the top. I wonder if there will be a Charmed Knits 2?

In other news: Hubby's show opens today. This means that next week I can go to knit night! Yea! I have not been out without the kids since just after Christmas. I love them but I need a night off. Hubby has been gone at the theatre every night this week and most of last week. I am a little peeved that I did up all these props for the show and did not even get a thank you from the theatre. Not a word. Nice. Oh well us techies always get the fuzzy end of the lolly pop.

In a bit of good news it looks like Hubby will be taking the MK's to see his Mom in TX for spring break. I am not going on this trip. MIL gets very stressed if I don't let her have her way with the kids and it makes me nuts. Also with what is going on with her I want the kids to have a really great visit with her to remember when things with MIL start to get really bad. Less stress for her is the key to this I think so I will have a week to myself! I think I am going to go visit my folks. Mom and I never get to spend enough time together so this will be great. I will get to visit with GAL too and maybe see GAH as well. I think another adventure weekend is in order.

I can't wait! Is it April Yet?

Cobblestone Pullover Done!

I got this done today and it fits! I did a little happy dance when Hubby tried it on.
it took 12 balls of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Amber Heather. Knit on size 8 needles. The pattern from Interweave Knits Fall 2007 was very easy to follow. The short rows in the back really make the fit. The neck is a little tight but it works. Yeah me! My first adult sized sweater. Now on to something else...

New Socks!

Pattern: Thuja from Knitty

Yarn: Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks That Rock Heavyweight

Color: Metamorphic

Needle: Size 4 dpn

These knit up so fast! I love them. Soft and warm. I was going to gift these but I think I will keep them for myself. Truth is I put them on to take the picture and just have not taken them off. The pattern is super easy and well written. I like the yarn too. The color is nothing like what their website shows. I like it a lot more now that it is knit up.

One more gift

Here is the last of the gift knits for this Holiday. I have amended my plan and am not knitting as many gifts this year.
So the scarf is based on Brooklyn Tweeds Scholar Collar. I didn't really even look at the pattern. The Yarn is leftover from the Tomten, Jo Sharp Silkroad Tweed DK. Cast on 32 knit garter till I like the length, make 2 button holes, knit 8 more inches of garter and voila!. The yarn is the star here, a wool cashmere blend. The tweediness of this little scarf makes me happy. It will be a warm toasty hug for the wearer. I do hope he likes it. I almost made this person a hat but just can't knit another hat for a while.
In other knitting the Cobblestone has a 2nd sleeve that is 3/4 done. I may get this finished. I have also started a new sock for travel knitting. I started with the Jaywalker pattern but just didn't like the way it fit so I frogged most of the first sock and have started on a new idea. We will see if it pans out. I have never really knit socks without a pattern before but I think it will work out. If not I can always frog.

Elf Hats

So I made this silly elf hat Saturday. Just sort of made it up as I went along. I kinda like it. The stripes are BunkyBoBos Hand dyed and the red is something from stash. Patons classic merino I think. That's a gold bell on the end. Adds to the silly. The color in the flat picture is really good. I like it. Sort of fun in a campy Christmas sort of way. This is going to a friend who I did not knit a campy Christmas hat for last year. I hope she thinks it funny.

Elf hat #2 is the Peppermint elf hat. Same red as before with hot pink and white Wool of the Andes from Knit Picks. Green bell this time. I love this one. I can write up the pattern if anyone wants it.

Tam2

Tam #2
Yarn is Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran in Merlot. (gifted to be by SP10 Beth) I love the way this came out. The color is really rich. The Yarn it self is a dream to knit, soft and no splitting. The pattern is really easy to follow. I will hunt up the link and post it later today with the pics of the new yarns I have done.
