WIP's

I have in fact been knitting lately I just haven't posted any pics. So here they are: First up is Hubby's WCEP hat. I have finished 3 repeats of the pattern and am ready to do the crown
Next is Thuja sock from Knitty. This is the New York Yarn. I love the spiral effect I am getting. We will see what happens when I do the heel.
And last up is Tubey also from Knitty. I am almost done with the first sleeve. I plan to finish the sleeve and then finish up the hat when the MK's are asleep.

Swaps and Secret Pals

SP10 ends at the end of June. By the end of next week I should know who has been sending me great little packages for the last 3 months. Yeah! I can't wait. It is kinda like meeting a pen pal or something. So Hello to my pal out there in blog land. I hope you had a great vacation!

I have sent my last box out to my pal and she should get it on Tuesday. I hope she likes everything. I sent her somethings I love as well as some stuff I know she will like. I wanted to send somethings that showed who I was and what I do. I will post a link to her on Tuesday so my 3 readers can meet her too. She has been blogging a long time and is very funny. You will love her.

HSKS matches will go out tomorrow. I can't wait to get started. I will have to take a break from knitting to read the last Harry Potter book. Anyone as excited as I am?

News from Grand County, CO

So we are all home from our trip to the mountains. We had a wonderful time. The MK's did not want to come home and neither did I. It is so peaceful up there. We went to YMCA of the Rockies for a breakfast ride at Snow Mountain Ranch. We had the trail all to ourselves as the Girl Scouts were late in getting to the stables. Our guide L J was very nice and made sure we all had a great time. The food was good and the mountain morning perfect. Turns out the GS's were from Moms council. Talk about small world I saw one of Moms friends when we were leaving. MG has been waiting for this ride all summer. She cried when we were done because she wanted to spend "5 or 6 more hours!" in the saddle. Mommy and Daddy could not take more time in the saddle so she fed her horse Feedbag his apple and we went on to other things. She did buy a stuffed horse she calls Feedbag and takes everywhere with her. MB had fun riding with his Daddy on the big draft horse. On Sunday we went to Evergreen to see Uncle Joe and Aunt Cathi. Ben and Violet were there. We ate well and had a great time. Joe loved playing with the kids and they love him.

We spent some time just playing around in the pool too. The MK's love the water.

The pool at the condo is heated and the hot tub is heaven after the riding.

On the last day we went to Coors Field to see the Rockies Beat the Yankees. MG wanted a Rockies Foam Finger and a Yankees flag. MB was very tired. He wouldn't sit still for the longest time and then just wanted to be carried. We meet up with Uncle Joe and Aunt Cathi. Everyone had a great time. The game was a Fathers Day gift for Hubby. I think he wanted to stay longer but MB was done in and we had to leave sometime around the 6th inning. Our seats were above the purple line that shows 1 mile above sea level. A bit of a climb but the view of the field was really very good. The place was packed.

The Fraser Valley was breathtaking as always. We just love it up there. The pace of life is just slower up in the mountains. The people all seem to be in a good mood and everyone takes their kids and dog everywhere. Most restaurants will let dogs dine on the patio. I wanted to go to the alpaca farm and see them make yarn. I think they were closed as no one answered the phone when I called and the article I read (i sent this same mag to my sp! found me yet?) said they were just getting ready to open. I sent the mag off before I looked up the web page but I will check it out on the next trip. We want to take the MK's up there in the winter time to see what snow is really like, of course we could get snowed in... gee wouldn't that be a shame. NOT! Anyone want to go up there next summer? The condo sleeps 8.
In knitting news? Well that will have to wait till next time...

A New York Yarn

Here is the yarn I got in NYC. It is Artyarns Ultra Merino wool. I love the blue and brown colorway. I have frogged this sock due to the fact that it was too big. The yarn is so pretty I want them to be perfect.
There will be more blogging later today when the MK'S are not using me as a jungle gym.

My Hubby the movie star!

Guess what? Hubby got offered a part in a movie that will be shooting here in town! He has 3 or 4 scenes and will get his SAG card for this. The director is Ted Lange (Issac from the Love Boat). Ted wants to show the file at Cannes next year. It is not a huge part but a lot of folks will see him. It could led to more parts in more films if it all works out. I am so happy for Hubby, he read for these folks 2 years ago and they called him last week out of the blue. He went and read for Ted himself on Wednesday. I don't know the title yet but I will keep you posted.
The MIL and MK's will be home later today. Yeah! I miss the little monsters.

I heart NY

So I am home. I had a great time in NYC. The dealer training I went to wasn't too awful and I met some really cool people. There is knitting and yarn news but I sort of deleted the pics before I got them on the pc. I am not sure how that happened I will take new ones. That will come later.

I spent a lot of Sunday finding a knitting cafe I had found on line, having lunch (yum)and buying yarn. There will be more on this next time. Sunday night I met a friend for dinner At Mustang Sally's on W 28th ST. The food was good and so was the wine. We talked, ate, drank wine and made ourselves merry for a while. Sunday was a good New York day.

Monday it rained. A lot. All day. It was not raining when I left the hotel to walk to NYU (about 20 minutes). I got wet. Oh well shit happens. The day was filled with dealer stuff and products that I sell everyday. I new cool thing but kinda boring. I had dinner with 3 gals from the dealer and they paid. It was lovely. They were going to a show I didn't want to see so I walked to Times square and got a ticket to Spamlot for the next night. A pretty good New York day.

Tuesday the weather was perfect. A lovely walk to NYU and another day of stuff. A nice dinner with some folks from Chicago. Then a Broadway show. I loved it. There is no place like Broadway. The sheer mass of humanity is a thing to behold. I saw people from all over the world, all in awe of each other and the city around them. I had a about an hour to wonder around Times Square and take it in. I didn't take a lot of pictures I just took it in. I loved every minute of it was entertaining. A street vendor asked me how I was:

"fine" I say

" I know you're fine Baby I asked how you doing"

Gotta love that.
And then:

I gotta tell you this is the funniest show I have seen in a long time. I laughed so hard I cried. If you are a Monty Python fan like myself you must see this show. You won't be sorry. You will find your self in the room with John Cleese for every performance. You will meet The Black Knight, Not Dead Fred, Prince Hubert, and Tim the Enchanter along with all of the Knight of the round table and the King himself. I could go on and on but you will just have to get there.

All in all a good trip. There will be knitting soon...

Spam Spam Spam Spam

I just got back to the hotel from seeing Spamalot on Broadway! It is so funny I almost wet myself! The place went nuts when the black knight lost his legs. (More on this later.)
I will have pictures and a full post when I get home. Until then...I fart in your general direction!(if you are not a Monty Python fan you won't get that joke, sorry but it is my blog!)

New York State of Mind

Well I have a 5am flight to NYC tommrrow, and I could not be more excited! I have scouted some yarn shops in the area I will be in and have saved up a few bucks to buy myself some yarn. I am hoping to find something I can't get here in the heartland. In related work news, I got a raise! Well everyone in the company got a raise. It is about time too, we are having our best year ever as far as sales goes so the bosses wanted to share the wealth a little. I went in to thank my boss (the VP) and he handed me some cash and told to to have a nice meal in NYC. Did I tell you I have the best boss ever? They are sending me on this trip as sort of a reward for all the bullshit I put up with. Boss even said that he knows the bullshit factor is high and is greatful that I am so loyal. It is nice to get a pat on the back sometimes but a trip to NYC is better! and cash to boot! I will have to knit him something.

In knitting news, I started hubbys We Call em Pirates hat again. I think I have the gauge right this time. I will check this more carefully when I have the first pattern repeat done but so fat it is looking good. I was a little worried it would end up too big for him. I am using a wool yarn so I think I will shrink it to fit if it is too big. No pictures yet maybe when I get back. I am determined to start a new sock today to take with me on the plane. I want something small. I think I am going to try the same pattern as before only smaller dpn's. the bamboo ones my SP10 gave me are a size 1, maybe the smaller ones will give me a better fit. I dyed up some super wash with 2 shots of black dye and I got the most interesting results. When I have some knit up I will show you.

In Monster kid news, MG has learned to ride a bike. Without the training wheels! Yeah MG! Being with the cousins is a great thing for her. My 3 nieces are all older than her so she is not the biggest kid there which is what she needs. MG is also learning to swim. MB seems to have taken a step back with the potty thing. I think it is because he is away from home and misses his Mommy! They will be home in a week or so.

Oh btw I showed my ribwarmer to my MIL and she liked it so well I gave it to her. She is so tiny it fit her better than it fit me. My SIL told me that she gushed about how great it was and what a beautiful job I did when she showed it off. I am glad she likes it. I had a rough time with her for a lot of years but it seems to be getting a little better with her in some areas but I am worried about her health and so is SIL but her boys will not talk to her about it.

I will have NYC picks and knitting in the wild to share! I will leave you with a picture of MG and her new BF Robin. MG is the one in the red.
