Update

This picture is from last summer in the Rockies. This is one of the places we hope to take Mom and Dad this summer.

I have been busy getting another box ready for PhatFiber. These little samples are fun to make. I'll show you when I get them done.

In knitting news I am about done with the sock in the last post. I have also been working on a gift for Bunky's teacher who will retire this year after many years of teaching 2nd grade. Speaking of school. I took Monkey Boy to Kindergarten round up and he is very excited to start school. He went off to see the classroom with the teacher while I gave my little talk about the PTO. The teacher said he was very good. He even wrote his own name on his papers by himself.

I had a fun idea for a new line of colorways so look for more on that soon.

More socks

Yarn is BoboSocks. I dyed this skein with the dye I had left at the end of a day. I love the way it come out. This is not the best picture. We have no sun here today.

1%

Will someone please explain to me why we are all moaning over 1% of the money the government has given AiG? I get that the bonus thing was a boneheaded move on their part but come on people! it is less than 1% of what we gave them! I would like to see what they have done with the other 180 billion dollars!

Yesterday the First Lady broke ground on a new garden for the White House. This garden will feed the Obama's and everyone else at the White House. How cool is that? I have to tell you I really do like her. I think in the end she will turn out to be as loved as Jackie O or Eleanor Roosevelt. She makes a great role model. It is interesting how we as a country love our First Ladies. No matter what their Husbands do. I wonder what will happen when we have a First... what First Man? First Husband? Just as long as we don't call him the First Dude.

PhatFiber March Box

When I got back from the school yesterday I found this. My Phat Fiber box for March!

Really great yarns from (bottom row starting with the purple)Fire Lizard Studios,Sweet Pea Fibers, wildethyme,(top row next to purple)Dragon Maille,From Ewe to You, Northern Lights Fiber Co, and Knit it Up! All of them are wonderful. I really love the Knit it Up. It has silver in it and its sparkles. Most of these will become part of the scrap blanket.

Fiber samples from: The green round one is Wild Hare Fiber Studio from local sheep. The little bag is from East Kentucky Fibers. The colors are wonderful and marked by dyelot. The green/yellow braid is from cloudover69. BFL. Very soft. The blueish one is Hampton Artistic Yarns. Falkland top. Very pretty.

Here you will also see a Lavender Sachet from Ambrosia and Bliss,a shawl pin from Wyrding Studios that I love deeply. Also a bag from Ruddawg. I love her bags. I own 5 of her sock size bags and one of the bigger ones. I traded some fabric to her and had her make me some last fall. They are wonderful and the price is great! My last 2 swap pals got Ruddawg bags too! There are a few more goodies in my box. I will post the rest later. I need better pics. Jessie and Marcus do a great job with these boxes. I hope the people who got my samples like them.

The Ides of March

I always try to start planing Spring projects around the Ides of March. 5 Days to spring, it always seems to be the day I start to see the end of winter. The kids were out in the yarn today. They came in covered in mud. Toph has torn up the grass in a large part of our backyard. She loves to dig. Man its going to be a long spring of muddy paw prints around here.

In shop news: Monday I am going to put all the old yarns in the shop on sale. I post a link when I'm done with the listings.

In knitting news: I did in fact start a sock. Just a plain sock. I am done with the gusset. So I guess my no sock phase is over. Good thing too. My Wollmeise knee socks have a new hole in them and I need a new pair. Now that I can take the kids to the park with out turning into a Popsicle there will be lots of sitting in the sunshine knitting socks. I hope the city fixes the bench. The pack of teenage boys is now 14-15 and they like destroying things at our little park. Their parents don't really seem to care. I will have to keep a close eye on the kids this summer.

BoboSocks

Here is the other new base yarn I told you about. 75% superwash merino 25% nylon. I love this yarn for socks. It is still nice and soft but wears really well. I named it after Monkey Boy who is hard on his socks. This is the Punk Rock colorway. I love it. Looks so pretty re-skeined like this.
This is a new colorway. I think it will be The Eye. Fiery reds, golds and oranges. Kettle dyed.
I will be running a sale next week. More on that Monday.
As for life here at the Funhouse. Monkey Boy and I are working on writing our letters and getting ready for school. I have to wonder if things will go as smoothly for him as they did for Bunky. We will be going to Kindergarten Round Up in 2 weeks. They take the kids to the classroom and the parents are kept in the gym. I wonder how many weepers there will be this time. (I am talking about the Moms here. lol) When I took Bunky one woman sobbed loudly the whole time. Bunky did not get a spot at the focus school. We are bummed but I kind of thought this would be the outcome. With so few slots and so many students. You know kids, she has already moved on.

Dear Mother Nature

You have sent us so much wet weather lately that the yard is destroyed. The dogs have a big muddy mess in the yard to play in. You have sent us some really lovely warm days but nothing has dried out. I can't play at the park with Monkey Boy because of the mud and yuck. If its not to much trouble, could you dry things out a bit? My yard will thank you.

I'm calling this one Maybe Next Year. If my Cubbies play post season the ivy will be lovely shades of reddish brown. A girl can dream can't she?

More Knitting!

Here is Bunky's new scarf. She helped me dye these skeins. BunkyBobo's Worsted Wool Colorway: Bad Pantsuit. The pattern is the One Row Handspun Scarf by the Yarn Harlot. Fun to knit and I think it shows the colorway nicley.

I have not touched my sock knitting in weeks. Not sure why really. I have plenty of new colorways I could knit up and tons of patterns to choose from. Must be a phase.

Tubey

Here is the Tubey sweater. I like it. It fits pretty well. I think a light blocking is in order. I made the xs size but added a bit of length to the body and left out the bell sleeve. If I ever knit another one I think I would do the ribbing on the sleeves as well.

Most of the new colors are up in the shop. The rest will go up today.

More colors! Now seen from space!

Punk Rock so named by BunkyGirl. I love this one.

Summer Lovin' I am pretty sure you could see this one from space.

Lemon Lime Snow Cone. "It looks like a snow cone" says BunkyGirl
"So it does" says I

It's not easy being green. From the softest mint to the deepest emerald.
