Just can't keep my mouth shut

I just wouldn't be me if I didn't comment on whats going on in the world lately.

The governor of my home state, the great state of Illinois is a schmuck and needs to go. Selling the Senate seat aside the schmuck withheld funds from a children hospital until he get campaign money from members of its board. What an ass. he needs to go.

I really hope the press is done following the Obama kids around. Poor things, it has got to be hard enough for them without 800 cameras in their face everywhere they go. Leave them alone!

Larry Flint wants a government bailout for the pron industry. Em really? I think the Internet has hurt porn more than the bad economy. Why pay for something you can get for free?

The congress needs to work together and get the country moving and spending again. I don't understand why some folks there don't want to spend money on building new roads and such. Don't we need those?

Sarah Palin needs to shut up! It is not Katie Courics fault she looked like an ass in her interviews. Maybe if she were smarter (or came across as smarter) I would feel sorry for her. And it is not wrong for the media to report things that are true. Your daughter is a high school dropout and so is her boyfriend. I don't mean this as an insult, its the truth.

Dick Chenny is a creep and I will be happy to see him as far from the seat of power as he can get. You helped get us into a war we have no business fighting Mr VP. I for one think you should pay for that. Oh and just because you say everything you did as VP was legal does not make it so.

This new war in Gaza is a mess. We westerners need to understand that this has been going on for hundreds of years. I just don't think I will ever see peace there. Both sides have a very good point but religion is the problem here. If we all just believed what the druids believed. Namely that all Gods are one God the world would be a better place.

11 days from now GWB will be out of office. I for one hope he fades from public life and I never have to see him again. I am afraid if I ever did meet him face to face all I would be able to do is spit in his eye.

Felt good to get all that off my chest. I promise my next post will be all about the knitting.

Bail Out

I have been watching the news about the overnight bail out of Citi Group. I am just so sick of my tax dollars going to rich people. Why not help some of those small businesses everyone says are the life blood of our economy? Not only does Citi get a bail out but the dummies who messed the company in the first place get to keep their jobs and huge paychecks. If we are saving these companies with tax payer money I feel the morons who made the mess should have to pay. It is starting to feel like the government just does not care about us middle income families anymore. If I hear that we can not raise taxes on the rich one more time I may scream. January 20th can not come soon enough.

In other news: MB Blankie border is well under way. I have about 1/4 of it done so it will be done on time.

A new day

After this post this will be a knitting blog again.
Last night I saw something I never thought I would see in my lifetime. As I was watching the coverage of the party in Grant park all I could think was this is big. This is one of the moments in history I will always remember. To see young and old black and white together in the park weeping with joy was a wonder to behold. I was struck by how Obama seemed to understand the history of the moment and the weight of it on his head. I hope his call to action was heard, and we may as a nation move forward into the 21st century with a new sense of pride and commitment. America only works when we all work together and there is much work to do for all of us. He can not do it alone we must all keep fighting if we really want a better world. I feel like for the first time in my life we have a leader that will lead us all there. I have hope and pride in my country today like I have never had before. What a great time to be alive.

However California shame on you. Prop 8 goes against everything America stands for. I will not be going there anytime soon.

Thanks you all for putting up with the political post. There are done now. Back to the knitting and yarn talk.

Today is the day!!!

I just got back from the polls. I had to wait about an hour to cast my vote but it was worth it. Never in my life has there been an election like this one. I feel like this is what it must have been like for my Dad when he campaigned for Bobby in the 60's. I feel like I am standing at a crossroads of history. This is the day my country can chose to change for the better, This is the day we all stand up and use our voice to say we will not put up with anymore Bull Sh*t. This is the day we chose to move forward. This is the day we show the world what America is all about. Today there is hope for a better world for my kids and all of our kids, This is the day we have all the power to bring real change to our country.

So please, if you live in the USA and you are reading this. Please I beg you get out there and vote, Wait as long as it takes, don't take no for an answer, cast your vote. The very life of our country depends on it. The future of our children depends on what happens today. Please, please, please go vote today. Even if we disagree on who to vote for please go vote.

If you are an Obama person, don't think for a second we have this thing in the bag! GO VOTE!!!

Update

So life just keeps moving here at the funhouse. I am starting a part time job tonight. We really need the money and I need time out of the house so its win/win. Hubby's show closes Friday night so I will more nights free to work. I just hope I can still find time to hang out with Hubby once in a while.

In knitting news: I got new winter hats knit for MB and myself. MG's still has hers from last winter and Hubby still loves his We call em Pirates I made last winter. The gift knitting is almost done. And the muff has been frogged yet again. I just did not like the way it looked so back to the drawing board for that one. The turtle neck warmer pattern is done. I will post it soon.

In shop news: There are some new colors in the shop right now. Go check them out. Please?

Politics: 1 week to go! Make sure you get out and vote. I had a call from Lee Terry(R house NE) last night. he was doing a tell- town hall type thing. I found it very off putting. I hung up only to have them call back and leave 5 minutes worth on my voice mail. The dude will not even say what party he is with. Looks like he may lose next week. The national press is not even talking about Nebraska but I think it could go either way. There are no McCain/Palin signs out but lots of Obama signs. Could NE go blue? Unlikely but I bet Omaha/Lincoln will. I plan to take MB and vote right after I drop the kids at school. I am guessing the lines will be long but I don't care I will wait as long as it takes.

Silly Season Poltics

I just feel the need to comment on the latest political news. $150,000.00 for clothes for the Sarah Palin? At a time when 95% of American families are hurting? Bad move RNC. And Obama is the elitist? Yeah right.
I can not wait for this election to be over. I sure hope my team wins. I worry about what will happen if they don't.

Bad Blogger, No cookie

No pictures of pretty knitting again today. Soon really.
I have been trying (not well I might add) a little graphic design. The design part is not hard for me but the execution has been less than fun computer wise. I'll get it right one of these days.

The MK's and Hubby enjoyed their time with family over the weekend but are glad to be home. MG thinks it is cool she has so many Aunts and Uncles she had never met before. Hubby says his Grandpa is doing well.

In other Hubby related news He will be the ShelterSkelter this year. SS is a Halloween show that's been running for 12 years. It is made up of short plays that change every year. He and I were very involved with this show when we were first married.(the first 2 years it ran, The best years really lol) Should be fun to see him in it again. More info on the show later. Hubby gets to play a creepy bad guy. He loves creepy bad guys. The MK's will not be seeing this show. The creepy bad guy is REALLY creepy and VERY bad.

Also for Hubby the Movie he is in For the Love of Amy is being considered for the Sundance film Festival. Its 25 seconds of screen time but still... It's freaking Sundance! and Hubby gets pretty much the only laugh moment in the whole thing. Ya we are geeking out just a bit.

And as to Politics. This just keeps getting better and better. I have been watching the RNC. It is always nice to see what the other guy thinks. I must say they don't have as good a lighting guy. I found the whole program last night to be pretty blah. Tonight should be much more interesting.

Me time

With the MK's and Hubby gone most of the weekend I have had a bit of me time on my hands. I managed to finish a sock and start the 2nd, make 50 pots of lip balm and watch 3 movies. The family is due back this afternoon. I enjoy the Me time but after a day or so I start to wonder what to do with myself. Winston seems to be out of sorts with the kids gone. He spent most of yesterday on MG's bed wondering where she was. Poor guy.

I feel the need to say something about John McCain's choice of VP. You will remember I was/am a Hillary person. I wanted to vote for her because of her policy not her gender. I find it insulting that the GOP pundits think that HRC voters will vote for them because of this woman. Palins policy views could not be further from HRC's. She is pro life, pro gun, pro drilling, and thinks we should teach creationism in schools rather than science. I can not see how any of these facts would draw HRC voters. Come on GOP. Do you think I am that dumb? Do you think I will vote for one of my own gender just because we are both women? Yes I want to see a woman in the white house but not just any woman. The right woman.

I want my little girl to grow up knowing that she can be anything she wants and will be treated the same as any man. I feel that we have a chance to make a better America for our children. Obama and Biden will fight for us. For health care, for education, for green energy, for American jobs and for Peace. I really feel Obama has a chance to restore Americas place in the world. I want to live in the America Obama talked about last week in Denver. I want to run screaming from the America McCain offers. He won't even promise to take care of the Veterans who serve our country bravely and without question. If McCain won't even take care of his own comrades in arms who will he fight for? Big oil and the rich? Sorry Mr McCain, not good enough. Not even close.

This and that

I tried to match the Sweeney Todd colorway yesterday. It did not happen, I think I have the wrong color brown and the red was not really blood red more like wine. I do like the new colorway though and think I will keep it. Pictures later today when it is dry. I listed the Stonehenge lace weight yesterday as one lot (1700+ yards). It is so pretty. I hope someone buys it and knits a beautiful shawl or something. I am not much of a lace knitter myself, But I know this color would make pretty lace. I will also be listing 2 skeins of merino sock yarn in this color!

It is so nice here today. MB and I were out all morning and are going to the park it a little bit. I think he is allergic to the same spring pollen type thing that gets me. He has a runny nose but everything else is fine. I hate the thought of putting him through all those test to determine just what it is he is allergic to. He does not seem to care much. He just wipes his nose and off he goes again. Ah to be a kid...

In knitting news the first Rainforest Jasper sock is working up fast. I got the heel done last night during Idol and should get most of the foot done tonight. I am making these for Les. (shh GAL don't tell. they are for Christmas). I will have a picture later today. The color reminds me of a Jasper pendant my Mom has. The red sweater is on hold for now. Now that it is warm out I have no desire to knit a heavy sweater. I am hoping to knit up most of my Christmas gifts this summer so I can knit whatever I live next fall. I don't really like to leave the gift knitting to the fall, I never get it done. I was smart this year and have started or finished gifts for folks who did not get hand knits last year.

Spinning?... Yeah well I have not spent much time with it for the last week or so. I really need help with my drafting. I am taking Zaphod to Knit Night this week to show some of the gals and I'm gonna get a few pointers while I'm at it.

And just a bit about Idol... Andrew Loydd Weber?!?! anyway that aside why did most of these people pick the worst songs ever! Jason I'm looking at you! and Brooke dear I like you but I think it may be you tonight Honey. Sorry. I liked Carly, You Rock Girl! And David Cook. It was cool to see him just sing something, and the idea of him playing that role is interesting. I would like to see someone do that role in a new way. For the record as of right now Hubby and I pick David A to win. He's young, sweet and can sing anything. He fits the mold too.

Have you been watching this new reality show called the Democratic Primary? Boy it just keeps getting better and better. The pundits are running out of ways to ask the same questions over and over. I find it highly entertaining. I keep thinking Obama is going to close it up but it just doesn't happen. I hope Bill can keep his smart mouth in check and help Hillary win. But truth be told I have no idea how this ones gonna end. Either way and people are going to be unhappy. On the other hand I don't see how John McCain can win the general because he is offering 4 more years of Bush and what sane person wants that?

Well I think I have babbled on enough for one day...To the park!

If Hillary loses

I think it will be Bills fault. Don't get me wrong I like Bill and voted for him twice... I just think he could not remember to think about the fact that she is held accountable for his words in a way that no body else has to put up with. They tried to hang Obama with his wife's words and it did not stick. But Hillary has to carry every word Bill says on her back. Its a shame really, part of me would really like to hear Madame President... and I think she would make a good one.

Before you go hating me I am not anti-Obama. I think he is a great guy. I just worry that he is a rookie. And things won't change because he says they will. I wish they would but I just don't see it happening. If he wins I will vote for him and encourage others to do so...

But man I would have like to punch my ballot for all the women who came before, and for my own little girl...

End of primary election commentary
