Shop News.

On Tuesday 09/24/08 I am going to pull everything out of the shop to make way for new yarns. The new yarns will be priced a little higher due to increased cost. Sorry about that but it won't be huge. Shipping will go up as well. It just can't be helped. So you have from right now until next Tuesday to grab whats left. these colorways won't be back anytime soon. Check it out here.

The new stuff is really pretty(if I do say so myself! hehehehe) You will be seeing it soon. There is also a new product in the works. I am pretty happy with it and I think you will be too.

More socks

So here is my new "on the go" sock. 2x6 ribbing on the leg, it will have a plain foot. The yarn is from another indie dyer, Dyeabolical Yarns. I love her stuff. This colorway is called Frogs in a Blender. I love how the color knits up, no pooling at all just nice stripes. This one is ready for a heel. Speaking of which, I showed GAL how to turn a heel this past weekend. I had knit one sock for her a while back so she will have a pair soon.

I have been doing a bit of research for the new line of yarns I am going to do up for the L&V shop. I am going for 12 repeatable colorways and some one offs. There will also be Christmas yarns for The Etsy shop too. Now I just need to sell a few more of the skeins in the shop so I can load up on the base yarn. I have left the sale prices on the Guide yarns. I won't be dyeing these colorways again so if you like 'em get 'em now. The LOTR colors are up as well. In shop news I have the last of the roving's dyed and ready to list. I just need some pictures first. This will be the last of the roving for a while. If it sells I will restock it. I have been slowly listing the new colors. Keep checking back to see new things.

In knitting news I am plugging away on Moms Christmas gift as well as GAL gift and a pair of socks for my Dad. I was going to knit him a vest but he seemed to like the socks I knit Hubby so socks it is. Dad's are not as loud as Hubby's are. I have only just started the pattern part so there is not much to show. I won't be showing you Mom or GAL's cuz they read this and then it just would not be any fun.

In Family news the MK's are getting on each others nerves. We keep calling MG's friends from school and leaving messages but never get a call back. I feel bad for her. We have been going to the park and doing things around the house to keep busy. Money is tight so there have not been tons of movies and eating out this summer.

I know I have not been writing much lately. I have been so stressed out about money that I have not felt like writing. I have been looking for a part time job and trying to push sales in the shop. I was able to transfer some money from the shop to the household account this month so that made me feel a little better about it. Its funny how sales and comments perk me up. Makes me feel like I am doing something right after all. Ok enough of that "oh poor me" stuff. I have to make lunch for the Monsters. Back soon.

I hope to get a lot done next week as the MKs will be with Papaw and Grandma S for 4 days. I am going out to help Miss V dye the next Loopy Ewe order on Monday. That should be fun. She is a blast. Tuesday I will be dyeing here all day. I have some silk fabric I want to play with too. Gotta run kids to play with...

The Tale of Sweeney Todd...

When I did up the first round of this colorway I dyed the yarn with food safe dyes. I have been trying to repeat it with acid dye and I think I got it. Sweeney is all about the blood, both fresh spilled and stains years old. Here we have blood red mixed with burgundy and reddish brown. The color in the photo is pretty good. The brown is much deeper. That is 2 -250 yard skeins of superwash wool sport weight. Going into the shop tomorrow.

I have also listed some Cuticle balm in the shop. I discovered when I made the lip balm that this stuff was great on the rough spots on my hands. So good in fact I use a different lip balm for my lips and these have become for my hands.

Coffee time!

When I started staying home with the kids I started making Hubbys coffee in the morning rather than have him buy coffee everyday. We got a new coffee pot for Christmas (thanks Mom and Dad) so for Valentines day I got Hubby a coffee grinder and a pound of coffee. I ordered the coffee from a fellow Etsy seller Daves Home Roast. Dave offers many different kinds of coffee that he roast to order for you, and then ships right to your door. I am not much of a coffee person but I can tell good coffee from bad and this stuff is good. Hubby loves it and it is something I keep buying him from my yarn money. It my little way a of thanking him for loving me. Anyway...

Indie of the Week

I got a very nice lip balm from my Sock it to me twice pal and went online to check out the maker naiad soap arts. Erin sells her hand made soap, lip balms and other bath products on Etsy. She does wholesale orders too. She makes all of her products by hand. I love that.

I ordered this yummy All Natural Blood Orange soap ( and the chocolate peppermint lip balm). The soap smell great and lathers up well. It leaves nice smooth skin. Not sure I can go back to regular soap after this. I can't wait to try some of her others. The price is right (imo) and shipping is fast and reasonable.

Erin is nice enough to enclose a sample of one of her other products with your order. She sent me a solid sugar scrub that was wonderful. Her service is fast and friendly. If she is out of something ask her. She is very nice about checking her stock and getting back to you. Check out what this great Indie artist has to offer. I am sure you will find something you just have to try.

new stuff.

Here are 3 of the things I've made up over the last few days.

The red and white message board is 12" tall be 6.5" wide. The box is 2.5" deep and 4" across. Both of these will go up in the shop. The 3rd holds those plastic bags you get everywhere. I save them and use them for all kinds of things. This cool container had Lysol wipes in it. I just jazzed it up a bit. I don't think I will list that one but I have another one of these containers... Found materials are so much fun. I just sort of play around until something works for me. I am also working on 2 covered note books, and another message board.

More from the pot!

So here we have Sunspots. 100% merino wool sock yarn. I am not a fan of yellow but this came out so pretty. I like it a lot.

And needs a name. I haven't named it yet. With the purple dye I use I can get it to crack in the pot so I get areas of blue/pink and purple. It comes out a little different every time. I love this one. It is 440 yards of worsted wool. The color is set so it can be felted.

I got some roving to dye so I'm gonna play with that today.

Hubby's Cobblestone is coming along. I am almost to the decrease rounds. I am not the fastest knitter so I need about 4-5 hours of knitting time and I should have the knitting done. The finishing should be a piece of cake. He may get it unblocked.
There is no way the sock will fit my pal. It is too big. So the way I see it is I can A: rip it out and start over. B: finish it and start a new pair for my pal. (The secret sock will fit someone I know.) C: Finish the pair and send them anyway. I can't do that. Nope she needs a pair that fit and I have plenty of time to knit a new pair. I'll decide the fate of the sock later,

MG is out of school for the next 2 weeks so we will be busy. I am going to take her to a craft class next week at Michales. She is really looking forward to it.

I am off to bake the chocolate crinkles. Yummy!

Aside to Ms. Snark, Thanks for the order. It means a lot to me. I am so happy that Hanks is doing well. I wish I could have been at that slumber party!

New Yarns

So here we have Kate, Puck, and Deep Red.

Kate is a nice mix of rose/peach/orange. I like it. The superwash is so soft. The blue/green is Puck. I love this one! It turned out just as I had hoped. This one is a superwash wool/nylon blend sock yarn. The deep red I will never be able to do again. It started life as an oops in the dye pot, a big dose of red over dye and I got this. 100% merino wool sock yarn a one of a kind.

Kate is up in the shop already. The others will follow soon.

Grand Lake

There is a place in the Rockies called Grand Lake. The color there is amazing. Deep blue waters, Bright blue skies and snow on the peaks. This went up in the shop yesterday. I sent this same colorway to the Mobtown Review . I also sent Christmas Past.

In other news all gifts have been shipped and the Cobblestone has 2 sleeves. I am just waiting for a quite moment to put it together. The sock is moving along. I am worried it will be too big(as always). We are stuck inside today with a big pile of snow. The kids were out playing in it today. Mommy was shoveling it.

Here it is sorry the pictures are so bad but there is no light. The pink is perfect if I may say so. Light to bright pink in soft waves. I love it. It is soft and washable. I rinsed the heck out of it but just to be safe wash in cold water all by itself the first time. The other is a little brighter than the picture. It is still wet so we will see a better photo tomorrow. The blue could be darker. You should get stripes of the blue/peach/brown The peach is a little more orange than I had intended but I like the result. You can't tell from this but there is a real depth of color that should play nicely in the striping. I have to wind it again and that takes some doing. I'll get a picture. That's 1320 yards of yarn coming at ya!

Up next yarn for my little bros gift. Kettle dyed all one color. Much easier dye job. I like the single color dyes lately. I love the slight changes in the resulting fabric.

Much better

MB seems to be on the mend. He was looking pretty sick last night but this morning he is right as rain. Ah to be a kid. When I get that crud it last for a week or more.

I started a new pair of socks last night with the Kaffe Fasset yarn from Simone. Love the stripes. The color is called Storm. MG wants them so we will see. I might be able to get socks for both kids out of these 2 balls of yarn. That would be too cute.

I think I have my Christmas gift knitting list done and I am in pretty good shape. Almost everything is started and I really only need yarn for 1 or 2 little things. I am almost done with the Mitts I am working on. They are so soft! I find myself just petting them. I also have one purple kid sock done. Getting there. I want to make my MIL a Santa so if you know of a good pattern? I might just make it up as I go along

I am dreaming up new colorways for BunkyBoBos, thinking ahead to spring. I want to move into acid dyes and maybe try some natural dyes as well. I am taking my BBBs stock with me to show off to my family this weekend so if you happen to order anything I will not get it out until Monday. I am going to leave my sale up for a while and see if I can get some of these to sell before Christmas. If they don't sell everyone will get socks next Christmas!

I am off to eat some graham crackers and watch Blues Clues with my boy. Yeah, I'm lovin being home.

Ooooo Scary!

Here are the Monsters all ready for Trick or Treat. They both got a pumpkin full of candy.MG uses the Jack O Lantern I had as a kid. You can still see where the tape with my name was. It was a chilly night and we were home pretty early. They had a great time. MB runs to each house on and says his "trick or treat!" then shouts Happy Halloween" at the top of his lungs. MG want to pet everyone dog. Much fun was had by all.

With Halloween over we are getting ready for the holiday push. I love that this year I will be home with the kids in December. I see lots of baking and snowball fights this year. I need to get some wool and knit some mittens. I have 1 fingerless mitt done for hubby, I guess I had better knit the other soon. I hope to find yarn for some mitts for myself while I'm out with the gals this weekend and maybe a sock yarn. MG wants some hand knit socks but does not like any of the colors I have. We will see. I may have to get some superwash and dye it for her. The first of MB Christmas socks is almost done. Just need to finish off that toe. I can never seem to get it right so I plan on asking GAH to help me out. She is the Aunt that taught me to knit after all.

My goal was to post to the blog everyday this month. I will miss 2 days this weekend while I am out of town. I am sure I will have lots to post about after the trip so I'll make up those 2 posts.

And don't forget I'm having a sale at BunkyBoBos. The yarns from yesterday sold before I even got them up. So sorry. I have had a request for more worsted and sport weight. What do you guys think? Any colorways you are just in love with?

Pretty colors

New Yarns! These are both Superwash Merino Wool. There is 220 Yards of the dark purple and 440 yards of the blue and burgundy. I love both of these, but alas they are bound for the shop. This is the last undyed worsted left in the house. I hope to order some more when some of the other yarns sell. I do not have names for these yet. I'll get to that later.

In other news Hubby had today off and went to the school to have lunch with MG. She was so happy and Hubby said it was pretty interesting to see her there with all the other kids. Next time he if off on a Monday I will go. Gotta do it while she will still let us!

Only 3 days till I leave for my weekend with Mom, GAL and GAH! I am so excited. I have found 2 knitting shops near where we are staying. Should be lots of knitting and hanging out together. I need to make some cookies.

Next is Bunky. MG helped pick the colors and mix the dyes for this one. Rich purples and deep burgundy. The last one I just love. I call it Lady Macbeth. This is a semi solid yarn in deep reds.
